CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Academy sophomore Anna Marie Adams was another student-athlete who advanced to the state tournament during the 2023-24 girls’ tennis season, which marks her second straight appearance.

During her freshman year, Adams went undefeated and hadn’t lost a set before being ousted in the first round of the state tournament, according to Clarksville Academy head coach Ken Adams. Similarly to last season, Adams again went undefeated going into the opening round of state.

The sophomore looked to advance to the state quarterfinal for the first time in her career but sadly fell short against Gabi Fernandes out of Silverdale Baptist Academy. While it was a back-and-forth battle, which included the second set going into a tie break, Adams lost to Fernandes by a score of 3-6, 6-7.

As Adams goes into her junior season, she’ll look to make it back to the state tournament for a third consecutive time.
