CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Excitement was the word and Clarksville Academy (CA) was the place as Pre-K through 12th grade students returned to class Thursday, August 13.  As always many of the teachers and staff welcomed students and their parents at the front of the school as CA cheerleaders performed.

The temperature of each student was taken before they entered the building as well as any parent going inside with their child and each one also received a temporary stamp on their arm to show that their temperature had been checked.

Talking about health and safety at CA, Head of School, Jennifer Hinote said. “We feel like we’ve taken precautions that are necessary in the time of a pandemic that are a good balance for our families,” said Hinote.

Parents whose youngsters attend CA were recently surveyed to ask them what they wanted when it came to returning to the classroom or choosing virtual learning. Hinote said the majority of the families chose to return to the CA campus.

When it came to virtual learning, Hinote added that less than ten percent of total school enrollment are doing remote learning with Clarksville Academy at home.

The commitment that parents have to make for the option of remote learning is nine weeks.  If after that time they decide they would like to return to the classroom they are allowed to do so, but if they are uncomfortable, they may revert back to virtual school.

Along with temperature checks of faculty, staff, and students, hand sanitizer is also readable available, and classrooms are set up with clear plastic screens on desks for protection and to help social distancing.

Clarksville Academy is located at 710 N. 2nd St. For more information visit the Cougar Come Back page on clarksvilleacademy.com which explains how CA is returning to school, or call 931-647-6311.
