CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kenwood Knights and Clarksville Academy Cougars both hit the road in win-or-go-home postseason matchups on Wednesday. Both teams saw their seasons come to an end, however, as Clarksville Academy fell to Battle Ground Academy in their region quarterfinals, and Kenwood fell to Dickson County in the district 14-4A play-in.

After placing third in the division II-A district 4 tournament, the Clarksville Academy Cougars headed to Franklin, Tennessee, for their regional quarterfinals against the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats.

In a rematch from earlier in the year, when BGA won 48-41, the Cougars gave it their all, but a two-point second quarter doomed Clarksville Academy. Senior forward Jarohn Johnson hit the 1,000-career point mark during the game, but the Cougars’ season ended with a 60-41 loss, and BGA is now headed to the state tournament.

Kenwood vs. Dickson County

Meanwhile, the Knights traveled to Dickson County for a play-in matchup for the district 14-4A tournament.

Dickson County is historically tough place to play, and it did not fare any easier for the Knights. The reigning region champions extended their season on their home floor with a 63-45 win, and the Knights’ season came to a close.

Postseason action continues in Clarksville on Thursday, with the district 13-4A girls’ semifinals at Kirkwood High, the district 14-4A girls’ semifinals at West Creek High School, and the Clarksville Christian girls hosting the TSIAA state semifinals against Franklin Road.
