FRANKLIN, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville Academy Cougars traveled to Grace Christian Academy for a matchup with the Lions. Grace Christian built a 24-0 lead at the half, and despite a late touchdown, it was too much for Clarksville Academy to overcome. The Cougars fell 27-7.

While Clarksville’s Academy’s defense played well throughout, offensively the Cougars didn’t get much going, not scoring an offensive point all night. However, the Cougars were not without positives, as Gray Snodgrass recovered a Lion fumble and took it to the house for the Cougars’ lone touchdown of the night.

CA head coach Steadman Bell has been relying on his defense, but knows his offense needs to improve.

“Offensively we have to be better,” said Bell. “Our defense played well, I sound repetitive cause our defense has been playing well all season, but those same guys play on the offensive side too, and they’ve got to know there has to be a momentum shift there.”

The Cougars fell to 1-4 on the season with the loss, and now return back home to face Collinwood next Friday.

Bell wants to make sure he puts his football team in the best position possible to win.

“From an offensive standpoint, we have to make changes,” said Bell. “Whether that’s me play calling, I don’t know. We’ll go back to the drawing board, get everybody healthy for next week, and we’re gonna be all right.”
