CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northeast High baseball hosted Clarksville Academy on Thursday, and the visitors came away with a road victory, 12-2.

The Cougars put together an effective performance in every phase of the game. This included hitting 13 for 31 (.419) throughout the matchup compared to the Eagles 3 for 21 (.143).

Each starting pitcher was effective through two innings of play as the game kicked off. Max Cassle took the mound for Clarksville Academy and retired six straight batters. While the Eagle’s Evan Primasing was able to limit the Cougars to only two runs off four hits.

The third inning is where each team found their rhythm at the plate. The Cougars scored 4 runs due to three doubles, a number of Northeast miscues and productive baserunning. However, the Eagles looked to strike back in the bottom of the third and did so. Northeast put together a string of hits with two outs to cut the deficit to a four-run game.

The starting pitchers responded as each side held the opposition scoreless the following inning, but the game soon opened up in the fifth. Clarksville Academy had four more baserunners cross home plate to run their lead up to 10-2. After this point in the matchup, the game was all but over. The Cougars went on to win the contest 12-2 after six innings of action.
