CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – This week marked the return of high school basketball throughout the state of Tennessee and for a number of Clarksville-area teams, they played in their first games of the season, including Clarksville Academy hosting the Northwest High Vikings.

The matchup between the Cougars and Vikings was a tale of two halves. Northwest was able to jump out to an early lead in the first half of play, however, Clarksville Academy surged in the second half to win the game by a score of 65-49.

Clarksville Academy junior guard Trae Rideau led the Cougars in scoring on the night with 26 points, which included him scoring 18 points in the second half. Cougars senior guard Cam Phillips scored the second most team points with 18.

Meanwhile, Northwest senior guard Ta’carey Monday led the way for the Vikings in scoring. Monday finished Tuesday’s contest with 26 points himself.
