CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – Clarksville Academy senior baseball standout, Robbie Yates, signed with Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama Tuesday morning.
Yates led the Cougars in on base percentage (.472) and 3rd on the team with a .309 batting average during his sophomore season. During his junior season, Yates finished in the top 5 of 3 offensive categories for the Cougars.
He established himself behind the plate by leading the Cougar pitching staff to an impressive 3.29 ERA. Yates was named All-District for his junior season.
Yates, a three-year starter, has shown great leadership for the Clarksville Academy Baseball program on and off the diamond.
Off the diamond, Yates is a member of National Honor Society. He has played multiple positions during summer baseball for the Clarksville Orioles, one of the best travel baseball organizations in Tennessee.
Yates is the son of Bob and Sue Ellen Yates. His sister Myrtle Yates also attends Clarksville Academy. He is the grandson of Peggy Cave and Dorothy Yates.
