CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Academy plans to build a new 23,500-square-foot academic building on its North Second Street campus.
This building will house 16 Upper School classrooms for courses in English, History, Fine Arts, Science and a Makerspace, according to a news release.

The overall campus addition is a two-phase process. The first phase is the 16-classroom academic building located on North Second Street. The second phase will feature a new gymnasium and stage behind the academic building and along Anderson Drive. Phase one will be complete in August 2024. Phase two is still in the exploration phase, the release said.
In the last four years, CA has seen ongoing growth, and student retention is the highest in the school’s history, retaining 90% of its student body each year, creating the need for additional space.

“During the course of the last nine months, we have worked closely with the Head of School, Mrs. Jennifer Hinote, and Chief Financial Officer Mrs. Kim Satterfield to ensure we are on the right course for Clarksville Academy’s future,” said Jay Smith, Board of Trustees treasurer and CA Alumni. “The finance committee took a hard look at the proposal and felt now was the time to expand. We commend Mrs. Hinote and the Administrative Team for their vision and fiscal responsibility.”
In early summer, the two houses that were home to PreK and Kindergarten will come down. This is the first step in the construction process. The playground will also move to a new location behind the Admissions House. Completion of the playground and installation of new equipment is set for early August. Clarksville Academy will break ground on the new academic building in August, the release said.
“Clarksville Academy is thriving, and this is the next step in our overall plan,” Hinote said. “This new academic building will allow us to continue growing and providing the best possible education for our students. Our hope is to open the new building for the 2024-25 school year.”
