CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – In response to concerns over coronavirus (COVID-19), Clarksville Academy has announced temporary changes to their attendance and travel policies to ensure students’ health and safety.
“The school administration team, along with Board of Trustees leadership, has been reviewing the latest developments related to COVID-19,” said an email sent to parents on March 12. “This team has been planning and developing contingency plans since early February. Based on the guidance received from public health experts, the school is taking several new steps in an effort to delay the emergence of COVID-19 in our community.”
Attendance
While, as on Thursday, March 12, classes will continue at Clarksville Academy, students, staff and faculty are encouraged to place health ahead of attendance. Students and employees who are sick are asked to stay home.
Between March 12 and April 8, Clarksville Academy will allow exceptions to their regular attendance policy. Any student who is absent during this time will be excuse. The above time frame will be reviewed closer to April 8.
Travel, events and visitors
Clarksville Academy is continuing to review all scheduled events, travel and visitor policies and may need to limit on-campus events of a certain size. Due to the pandemic nature of COVID-19, communication will be ongoing and Clarksville Academy will work to share cancellations in a timely manner.

- Prospective Family Tours & Shadow Days: Postponed until after Spring Break)
- 4th Grade PE Unit at APSU: Cancelled
- APSU Dual Enrollment A&P Lab: Anticipated remote learning
Remote Learning
Clarksville Academy’s Technology Department and Heads of Schools have a plan in place for remote learning. It may become necessary to move from face-to-face class meetings to remote learning. Additional information will be sent to families should the need arise,
Prevention
Students, parents, and faculty are encouraged to follow the CDC’s prevention guidance and wash hands regularly with soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Administrators have assessed several other issues, to include, but are not limited to: business continuity planning, special events and athletic competitions.
