CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) – Clarksville Academy announces Dustin Smith as assistant baseball coach.

Smith, the former Head Varsity Baseball Coach for Northeast High School, brings thirteen years of coaching experience to CA’s baseball program.

“Coach Smith has a proven track record of producing quality baseball players over the years and I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to work on the baseball field with him.” Said Athletic Director and Head Varsity Baseball Coach, Jake Peterson.

According to a press release Smith, looks forward to his assistant role, where he can spend more time with his family and let go of the full time responsibilities of being a head coach.

His daughter Tenley will enter first grade at CA in the fall. He is excited to embark on this new era in Division II. Smith looks forward to participation in the DII level with different teams and skill level from his previous coaching experience.

Smith feels that the unique opportunity Clarksville Academy has with a PK-12 program allows the athletes to begin building team chemistry early and allows them to grow together as a team over a longer period. The foundations built through the CA baseball program can begin as early as the sixth grade.

Head of School, Dr. Kay Drew stated, “We are proud to have Dustin Smith join our varsity baseball program. It is our goal to continue to identify and add excellent coaches we know will improve and strengthen all our athletic programs. “

Smith will continue to teach health and physical education at Northeast High School.
