ORANGE BEACH, AL. – The 9U Clarksville Orioles went on a business trip to Orange Beach, Alabama, to play in the USSSA Global World Series, and took care of business.
After taking three weeks off, the Clarksville team won 7 out of 8 games, and got the opportunity to play different teams from all over the US. The team started in the fall and have since then ranked 3 in the state of Tennessee and ranked 66th in the USA.
Head Coach Danell Welch knew he had a great group of players.
“I told the boys before the championship game, when we started the season, we had a rough jagged rock. Now we have polished that rock and polished that rock and tonight we have a diamond. Let that diamond shine! It’s time to go get it done,” Welch said.
The group of young men not only performed well on the diamond, but showed great sportsmanship to opponents throughout the tournament.
The 9U Clarksville Orioles will hold try outs on Tuesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 28. Anyone interested in trying out should contact Head coach Danell Welch at danellwelch@me.com.
