CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a duplex on Greenwood Avenue in Clarksville, and a 9-year-old and his grandmother escaped unharmed.

At around 1:10 a.m. Tuesday, crews with Clarksville Fire Rescue responded to the scene.

The 9-year-old and his grandmother heard a smoke alarm and escaped the duplex uninjured, according to a Facebook post from CFR. No injuries occurred as a result of the fire, the post continued.

Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control quickly, the post said, and the family was displaced due to damage from the fire. The other apartment in the duplex reported minor smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
