CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Claire’s, a makeup and jewelry retailer geared toward preteens, has recalled several products following a potential asbestos scare.
The makeup palette in question was purchased at a store in Rhode Island, as first reported by WJAR-TV. A concerned mother had her child’s product tested and said it was positive for asbestos.
According to the National Cancer Institute, exposure to asbestos can cause mesothelioma, a rare type of cancer.
Claire’s has a Clarksville location inside Governor’s Square Mall.
In an official statement, Claire’s did not confirm the presence of asbestos, but did say the company has retained an independent laboratory to test the products.
You can view the list of recalled products on Claire’s website.
