Clarksville’s Independence Day Celebration is Friday, July 3, 2015 at Liberty Park.

The free event begins at 6:30 p.m. Seating and concessions will be available throughout the park and the concerts will take place on the Great Lawn of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

PARKING

Parking is available inside the park for handicap license plates and placards. Marina users must have approved vehicle tags or temporary pass.

TRAFFIC

Zinc Plant Road and the Zinc Plant Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the fireworks show. Guests should expect long delays on Riverside Drive and Highway 48-13 prior to and after the event.

LIBERTY PARK GRILL CUSTOMERS

Liberty Park Grill will be operating under the normal hours of 11 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. on July 3, 2015. Beginning at 4 p.m., guests to the restaurant can pay a fee of $20 to park. Each will be given a $20 voucher redeemable for food and drink at Liberty Park Grill. The offer is valid on Friday, July 3, 2015 only.

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE

There are three satellite parking locations available for visitors beginning at 4 p.m. To assist with parking, CTS will be offering free rides to and from the event from several locations close to the park. For those who want to park downtown, buses will begin departing the downtown Transit Center at 4 p.m. First Baptist Church and the downtown parking garage will both be available for shuttle pickup. Public Parking in Historic Downtown Clarksville is free after 5 p.m.

The parking lot at the Big Lots shopping area on Riverside Drive will also be open for parking. A CTS shuttle will run through this location to Liberty Park. It is expected that this lot will fill quickly. Once the lot is full, the shuttle will not continue to pick up guests for transport.

The parking lot at 1312 Highway 48/13, the School System Facilities Building, will be open. This is the old Jostens Facility off of Highway 48/13, just past Liberty Park. All shuttles will continue their loop until 9:15 p.m. There will be a slight pause in service during the fireworks.

The shuttles will be marked with their destinations. Attendees should remember which lot they parked in and return to that corresponding bus.

After the fireworks show, CTS buses will begin returning guests to parking areas, with the last bus departing from Liberty Park at 11 p.m.

CLARKSVILLE MARINA BOAT ACCESS

Boats with trailers will be allowed to access the boat ramp parking area until 4 p.m. or until the parking area has been filled. For safety reasons, no boats will be allowed to enter or exit the area between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

FORT CAMPBELL

Fort Campbell MWR will host a Salute to the Nation and Concert featuring Lee Ann Womack with guest star Peter Moon Band. Festivities will include a Division Ceremony, an Air Assault Demonstration, the concert and fireworks at Division Parade Field on July 4.

The event is free.

For Gate entry, Non-DoD ID card holders must obtain a visitor pass at Gates 4 or 7, except on July 4 from 4:30 p.m. until the close of the carnival. At 4:30 p.m., all non-DoD ID card holders must enter post via Gate 7 or 10. A Valid photo ID, vehicle registration, proof of insurance for all drivers and a valid sate issued ID is required from all persons age 16 and over in the vehicle. All vehicles subject to search. Gates 1, 3 and 4 will be open on July 4 for DoD ID card holders. All youth age 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

FIREWORKS LAWS

If you plan to light fireworks to celebrate the holiday are reminded it is legal in unincorporated Montgomery County, while in the City of Clarksville, residents ages 16 and up can shoot fireworks from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. from July 1-5.

HOPKINSVILLE CITY ORDINANCE ON FIREWORKS

The Clarksville Police Department will be stationed at all major intersections in the area around Liberty Park and Riverside Drive from 6 p.m. until after the event ends. Pedestrians walking to the park are encouraged to cross at these intersections.

Liberty Park will be closed at sunrise on Friday, July 3 for all activities except the Independence Day Celebration and will reopen to the public at sunrise on Saturday, July 4.

SAFETY IN LIBERTY PARK

With the large turnout expected for this event, remember the following safety precautions and Rules of Liberty Park:

  • No roaming solicitation.
  • No pets allowed during event. Clearly marked service animals are permitted.
  • No drugs or alcoholic beverages allowed.
  • No fighting or foul language allowed.
  • No personal fireworks.
  • No personal grills.

Signs will be posted inside the park denoting areas where weapons are prohibited. These areas are Army Corp of Engineer property and thus do not allow weapons of any kind. No alcohol is permitted anywhere inside Liberty Park.
