CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The City of Clarksville has provided several updates concerning the flooding taking place within city limits, including which streets have been reopened on Sunday, Feb. 16, and the expected river stages moving forward into Sunday night.
“In areas where flood waters have already receded, the Clarksville Street Department is removing barricades and reopening roads,” said the city on their official Facebook page. “In some of the slower-draining areas of the city, it will take several days for water levels to drop.”
The City of Clarksville said here are the following streets have been reopened today: Fantasy Lane, Pea Ridge Road at 101st Airborne Division Parkway, Jack Miller Boulevard, Old Dunbar Cave Road and Oak Street at D Street.
In the same post, the City of Clarksville said crews are continuing to make more sandbags for residents as the rivers continue to rise. The Red River at Port royal has yet to crest, as it’s projected to peak at 6 p.m. today. The city also said they are watching the Cumberland River at Clarksville, which is expected to crest Monday night.

Red River at Port Royal: third-highest flood crest on record
The City of Clarksville also said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has released detailed information regarding the river stages for the Cumberland River at Clarksville and the Red River at Port Royal. There is also detailed information for specific property impacts at each stage after yesterday’s flash flooding event.
For the Red River at Port Royal, as of one hour ago, it currently sits at 36.8 feet and is forecasted to crest at 46.8 feet late Sunday night. This would be the third-highest flood crest on record, behind May 2010 and March 1975. Here’s what homes and areas will be affected at the different flood levels, according to the report.
- “46 – Homes on Rivermont Dr, River Run, Idlewood Dr, and Wimbledon Ct are impacted and homes on Colin Ct, E Accipiter Cir, Pond Apple Rd, Foxfire Rd, Hay Market Rd, and Riverhaven Dr begin to be impacted. Water reaches yards of homes on Stonegate Dr and Willow Bend Dr, and approaches Hwy 161 near the Kentucky State Line, Porters Chapel Rd near Hugh Gill Rd, and Hwy 238 just north of the bridge at Port Royal State Park which may be impassable at higher levels.
- “44 – Water reaches homes on Rivermont Dr, River Run, Idlewood Dr, and Wimbledon Ct, and reaches yards of homes on Colin Ct, E Accipiter Cir, Pond Apple Rd, Foxfire Rd, Hay Market Rd, and Riverhaven Dr. Water reaches the Port Royal State Park Trail of Tears Trailhead parking area, and approaches yards of homes on Stonegate Dr and Willow Bend Dr.
- “42 – Flood waters begin to approach homes on Rivermont Dr, River Run, Idlewood Dr, and Wimbledon Ct, and approach yards of homes on Colin Ct, E Accipiter Cir, Pond Apple Rd, Foxfire Rd, Hay Market Rd, and Riverhaven Dr. Roads are also impacted and impassable, including Port Royal Rd near Hwy 238 and Dunbar Cave Rd just west of Warfield Blvd.
- “40 – Significant flooding continues to affect areas along the river, including the Red River Valley Park, Port Royal Rd near Hwy 238, Dunbar Cave Rd just west of Warfield Blvd which is covered with water, and portions of the Swan Lake Golf Course. Water reaches yards of homes on Rivermont Dr, River Run, Idlewood Dr, and Wimbledon Ct.
- “38 – Significant flooding is impacting agricultural land, parks, and access areas along the river, including the Red River Valley Park where several campsites are flooded, and Port Royal Rd near Hwy 238 which is covered with water. Water approaches Dunbar Cave Rd just west of Warfield Blvd and may be impassable at higher levels, and water reaches low lying portions of the Swan Lake Golf Course.
- “36 – Flooding continues to affect agricultural land, parks, and access areas along the river, including the Red River Valley Park where water reaches campsites and evacuations may be needed, and Port Royal Rd near Hwy 238 which is covered with water. Water approaches Dunbar Cave Rd just west of Warfield Blvd and may be impassable at higher levels.”
Cumberland River at Clarksville: forecasted to crest at 52 ft
As for the Cumberland River, it was reported an hour ago that it’s currently at 44.4 feet and forecasted to crest at 52 feet late Sunday night. This is indicated to be below major flood stage at 55 feet. Here’s what homes and areas will be affected at the different flood levels, according to the report.
- “50 – Most agricultural areas along the river are flooded, as well as many industrial and commercial properties, Riverfront Park, and adjacent tributaries. Riverside Dr in Clarksville begins to flood near TN-48, Providence Blvd, Mc Clure St, and Cumberland Dr. Also impacted are locations near Quarry Rd, Kraft St near College St and Providence Blvd, Zinc Plant Rd, Salem Rd, and Seven Mile Ferry Rd. Water approaches athletic fields near Greenland Farms Dr, and properties on Branch Rd.
- “48 – Flooding continues to impact agricultural, industrial, and commercial properties, Riverfront Park, and adjacent tributaries including Bartons Creek, Red River, West Fork Red River, and Yellow Creek. Impacted locations include Riverside Dr near TN-48 and Providence Blvd, Quarry Rd, Kraft St near College St, Zinc Plant Rd, and properties near Salem Rd and Seven Mile Ferry Rd. Water approaches properties near Kraft St and Providence Blvd, and begins to cover Riverside Dr at Mc Clure St and near Cumberland Dr.
- “46 – Flood waters begin to impact areas along the river, including agricultural and commercial properties, Riverfront Park, and adjacent tributaries including Bartons Creek, Red River, West Fork Red River, and Yellow Creek. Water also continues to inundate agricultural areas and parks along the river, and adjacent tributaries including Bartons Creek, Red River, West Fork Red River, and Yellow Creek.”
