CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Members of Clarksville Fire Rescue and the Clarksville Gas and Water Department presented a check for $4,589 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation Tuesday, November 12. The money was the result of fundraising efforts in October to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The two departments designed and sold pink t-shirts supporting the cause for city employees to wear and a t-shirt for the public was also designed and sold. Many times the employees of Clarksville Fire Rescue and the Gas and Water Department wore the shirts at work as well as city events.
Clarksville Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Howell Albrightt talked about the fundraiser. “We have been working selling t-shirts and had a great participation by the entire department and it’s for a very, very worthy cause in the fight against breast cancer. Thanks also to the Clarksville Gas and Water Department for their participation,” said Albright
Since 1982 the Susan G. Komen organization has played an important role in every major advance in the fight against Breast Cancer. The organization has helped turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. To learn more go to www.komen.org.
