CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.) – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will be observed on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was a Baptist minister and social rights activist in the United States in the 1950s and ’60s. He was a leader of the American civil rights movement, organized a number of peaceful protests as head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and preached a non-violent tactic when fighting racial injustices. He was born January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, and was assisinated April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee.
To commemorate his life and role in the Civil Rights Movement, Martin Luther King Day, became a federal holiday and went into effect on Jan. 20, 1986.
Local MLK Day celebrations include The Habitat for Humanity Day of Service and The MLK Community Celebration.
Closed for MLK Day in Clarksville-Montgomery County are the following places:

- The City of Clarksville Government
- The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System
- Local banks
Military
- In observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day federal holiday, Monday, Jan. 20, Blanchfield Army Community Hospital outpatient services, including outpatient pharmacies, will follow a DONSA/holiday schedule. BACH Emergency Center, labor and delivery, inpatient services and supporting emergency services remain open 24/7 on the federal holiday and DONSA.
January 17, Fort Campbell DONSA
All soldier and patient-centered medical homes, including Air Assault, Byrd, Campbell Army Airfield, Gold, LaPointe, Screaming Eagle, and Young Eagle Medical Homes remain open and will operate on a normal schedule. BACH specialty services will be closed on the DONSA with the exception of the Laboratory, Women’s Health Clinic, and the Department of Behavioral Health. All BACH pharmacies, except the Town Center, will be open normal operating hours on the DONSA. The Town Center will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., The Town Center Pharmacy will open normal Saturday business hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- BACH Patient and Soldier-Centered Medical Homes, specialty services and pharmacies are closed on federal holidays and therefore, will be closed Jan. 20 in observance of Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr Day. BACH Emergency Center, labor and delivery, inpatient services and supporting emergency services remain open 24/7.
Outpatient services will reopen on January 21.
