CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Clarksville City Council will vote Thursday night on restrictions for homeless shelters in the city.

Currently, zoning laws say a homeless shelter must be located at least 1,000 feet away from a residential area. If the zoning ordinance is changed, a shelter could be opened within 500 feet.

Manna Café Ministries has proposed a shelter on Frosty Morn Dr. off Kraft St. The fate of this proposal rests on Thursday’s vote.

ClarksvilleNow.com polled its readers on the issue over a 48-hour period. 97 percent of those who participated voted ‘yes’ when asked if City Council should allow the changes. To weigh in on the conversation, visit our Facebook page.

The Council meeting begins at 7 p.m.
