CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The battle between two of Clarksville’s City Councilmen has resulted in one taking out a warrant on another one.
The warrant for Simple Assault was filed by Councilman David Allen against Councilman James Lewis following a meeting last week. The two had a heated exchange during the meeting Thursday night, and Lewis said he would be waiting outside for Allen after the meeting.
Clarksville Police Sgt. Charles Gill was working security at the meeting and reported that he personally followed Lewis outside after the meeting and stood between the two men while they exchanged words again. In a supplemental report, Sgt. Gill stated, “At no time was either man in immediate threat of physical violence so there was no probable cause for an assault arrest.”
The Simple Assault Warrant is a citation. Councilman Lewis will not be booked.
