CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A reading of the Declaration of Independence will take place on the steps of the Montgomery County Courthouse at 9 a.m. on July 4.

The goal of the event is to remind the public of deeper symbolic meaning of Independence Day and the importance of the document in establishing freedom and justice in America and to honor a set of ideals that separate America from every other nation on earth, according to David Brockman.

Brockman is a local resident who started the event last year.

Modern day patriots from the area are asked to join in reading parts of the Declaration.
