CLARKSVILLE, TN − The Clarksville Police Department is excited to announce that applications are now open for this year’s Citizens Police Academy (CPA), Class #50.

The mission of the Citizens Police Academy is to foster a stronger connection and mutual understanding between citizens and the police through education. By attending, participants gain valuable insight into police practices, policies, and services. Graduates of the academy are encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences with their communities, helping to promote a more informed and engaged public.

This program is not a certification class or reserve officer training. Instead, it offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of the police department. Over the course of 10 weeks, attendees will meet officers from various specialized units, including:

  • Patrol
  • Criminal Investigations
  • Crash Investigations
  • K-9 Operations
  • Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)
  • T.A.C.T. Team
  • Crisis Response Unit

Participants will also engage in hands-on activities like:

  • Police vehicle operations
  • Firearms instruction
  • Responding to 911 calls
  • Use-of-force decision-making exercises

The 2025 CPA sessions will be held on Tuesday nights from March 4 to May 8, running from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
