PARIS, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – After pulling out an improbably come-from-behind victory last Friday over Munford, Clarksville football now turns its attention to Region 7-5A rival Henry County in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.

The Wildcats will have their hands full, as the Patriots haven’t lost to a Clarksville-area team since 2012 when they fell to Northeast 41-26.

For Clarksville, its winless drought against Henry County has remained intact since the 2009 season.

Despite fumbling the ball twice in the first half of its game against Munford, Clarksville’s offense will likely still go through its senior tailback Seth Phillips who will enter the contest with nearly 1,000 yards rushing and double-digit touchdowns on the year.

Quantae Hicks got into the end zone for the Wildcats against the Cougars and will look to continue his deep-threat prowess while averaging over 20 yards-per-catch during his senior campaign.

Last Friday, Colby Cook started under center and played the first three quarters for the Wildcats before freshman Davin Garinger entered in the fourth quarter. The freshman QB proceeded to throw two touchdowns to get CHS back in the game.

It’ll be interesting to see who Clarksville football coach Isaac Shelby decides to deploy against the Pats.

In order to pull out another postseason victory, the Wildcats will have to stop the ground game, beginning with Jaylin Foster who is the Patriots’ current leading rusher. Jamarcus Johnson has a team-high 10 rushing scores and will likely be the featured back for Henry County in the red zone.

Clarksville (7-4) travels to take on Henry County (9-2) at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 in the second round of the Class 5A Playoffs.
