CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The City of Clarksville’s Christmas on the Cumberland is sure to create lasting memories this holiday season as thousands experience the captivating displays of over one million lights! Join the City of Clarksville and US Bank as we celebrate Christmas on the Cumberland’s 16th year with a grand opening ceremony, Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. at the McGregor Park RiverWalk and Museum.
The grand opening will feature the official lighting of the Cumberland by Mayor Kim McMillan along with special guests, Channel 4 News Snowbird and Santa Claus! Christmas on the Cumberland will be open nightly from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 5:00 to 11:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays through January 3, 2015. Admission to the event is free.
Family friendly activities will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., November 28-29, December 12-13 and 19-20. This year’s activities include caroling, making reindeer food, letters to Santa, Christmas card creations, gingerbread house building, elf school relays, and ornament making. Giving on the Cumberland will continue this year and encourages visitors to help local nonprofits in need. From November 25-December 20, “request ornaments” with items of need from local nonprofit organizations will be placed on Christmas trees in the McGregor Museum. Visitors to Christmas on the Cumberland will have the opportunity to take a “request ornament” and bring their donation to the Parks & Recreation main office (102 Public Square) during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or to the museum December 19-20, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where you’ll also be given a chance to meet the participating nonprofits.
