CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Brothers and Sisters of the Masonic Order came together at Byrns Darden Elementary School in Clarksville on December 12 to make Christmas brighter for those less fortunate.
The 2017 Annie Moore Toy Drive was a huge success. There were donations of over 831 toys and cold weather clothing presented to the school. Jessica Harris, Principal of Byrns Darden, and her assistants were excited to receive the large donations.
The toy drive has grown from 7 ladies of the female auxiliary to the Shriners, to all Masonic bodies in the Clarksville area. The following organizations are annual supporters who made generous donations: New Jerusalem 5 Fold Ministries and RNEC of Ft. Campbell, KY. Project Chairperson, Martha Smith said she is happy to make known that the ladies of WIN, a new organization has become a supporter of the toy drive.
Ms. Smith said there several other persons who faithfully contribute to the cause every year to help make the event a success. Masonic contributors to this project were Hella Court and Hella Temple Shriners of Nashville, Warfield Lodge #44, Order of the Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho, Ladies of the Circle of Perfection, Guild, Priorate, and Sunbeams. The Masons of District #19 were most appreciated for their support.
The school displays the donations in a department store style for the ease of parents to shop for their family. Principal Harris and her staff said they were very happy to receive so many gifts. This project serves the Clarksville military and civilian community.
