HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Christian County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous reports of an active scam attempt in the community.
Several individuals have reported a similar phone call that is described as follows:
The caller identifies himself as “Lt. Johnson” with the Sheriff’s Office, and informs the victim that they have active warrants on them for failure to serve on jury duty.
The caller has been reported to become hateful and threatening as the call progresses. It is thought that the intention of the call is to scam someone out of credit card or bank information for payment of “fines”. The phone number is 270-205-0287.
We would like everyone to know that we don’t have a “Lt.” Johnson, and that is not the way one is notified when they have been negligent in jury duties. This is a scam, and we warn everyone to not answer this call, and definitely not give out any personal information such as date of birth, social security number or any credit card or bank information.
