CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Hopkinsville Fire Department (HFD) wants to warn the public about a possible phone scam in Christian County.
Patsy Bell, secretary for HFD, said the fire chief at Lacy Volunteer Fire Department in Christian County was notofoed of a phone scam that uses the department’s name and phone number on caller ID. The scammers say they are attempting to sell home alert monitoring systems.
“The fire department does not solicit by phone,” Bell said. “They do fundraisers, which are publicly announced.”
If you are contacted by phone by a number that claims to be the local fire department, hang up and do not give the caller any information.
