HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Christian County Health Department is expanding its free COVID-19 testing with temporary locations.
The health department has been offering free tests for the coronavirus for several weeks at Tie Breaker Park on Lafayette Road.
Amanda Sweeney with the Christian County Health Department said some members of the community had transportation issues and being able to travel to the park.
On May 11, a testing site was held in downtown Hopkinsville at 512 S. Clay Street in the parking lot adjacent to Clay St.
Plans are in place for another round of free COVID-19 testing on Monday, May 18 from 1-3 p.m. at the Clay Street location.
“That’s for individuals who don’t have transportation and who can’t drive to Tie Breaker Park,” Sweeney said. “Maybe you have access to walk there or it’s just more easily accessible for you.”
Sweeney said anyone can get tested at the drive-thru clinic and it takes less than 15 minutes.
“We encourage you to come get tested because sometimes you might be asystematic. You don’t have any symptoms of COVID-19 but you may still have it,” Sweeney said.
A free COVID-19 Testing clinic will also be available in Oak Grove, Kentucky at the Oak Grove Community Center, 1705 Thompsonville Lane on May 19 and May 26 from 1-3 p.m. each day.
She reminds citizens that the free COVID-19 testing will continue at Tie Breaker Park, 4400 Lafayette Rd. in Hopkinsville, Monday-Friday from 9-11 a.m. and Saturday, 8:30-11 a.m.
