CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Two people have been charged with assault after authorities discovered about an infant with severe injuries.
According to Kentucky State Police (KSP), the call was received Aug. 12 around 10:30 p.m. The complaint said a two-month old child had severe injuries consistent with abuse.
The baby was transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, KY, then later flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital in Nashville, TN due to the severity of the child’s injuries.
KSP detectives met with the Vanderbilt CARE Committee and as a result, Cassandra Hansley, age 23, of Herndon, was charged with one count of first degree assault. Cody Hansley, age 24, of Herndon, was charged with one count of complicity to first degree assault.
Both were booked into the Christian County Detention Center.
The child is now in stable condition and the investigation is ongoing.
