CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Sunday won’t be the only day the Chick-fil-A on Madison Street is closed. The family-owned fast food chain announced on Thursday that they would be closing the Chick-fil-A at 1626 Madison St. for a “much needed, major remodel.”
The restaurant will be closed for about 12 weeks while crews complete an extensive remodel. Both the drive thru and the dining room will remain shut down throughout the duration of construction.
Clarksville Now reached out to Chick-fil-A regarding what would happen to employees during the shut down.
“As far as the employees go, they’re all going to be taken care of and they are going to get paid for their time off. That will just be an average of the hours that they worked to calculate what we are going to pay them weekly,” said Madison Street Chick-fil-A Manager Isaac Hughes.
The Madison Street Chick-fil-A has been in operation for 18 years. Officials with the franchise noted in the Facebook post that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the remodel likely would have taken four weeks or less, citing delays in licensing, various required approvals, and real estate matters.
The inside of the building will be demolished from the floor to the rooftop and rebuilt. On the outside, the drive-thru and parking lot will be reconstructed to resemble that of a new Chick-fil-A. The company noted they are doing business in a building whose sales capacity is less than half of the volume they have reached.
Chick-fil-A also said the remodel will create a more efficient and safer work environment while improving the customer experience throughout all channels of ordering.
Thursday will be the last day of operations before the remodel. Chick-fil-A said they will remain open as long as they have food available to serve. There is no firm reopening date set, however, it is expected that operations will resume in December.
“Due to the remodel process being a little complex, we don’t have an exact date, but we know it will probably take around 10-12 weeks, so we know we’ll reopen in December. We’re just not sure what day in December,” Hughes told Clarksville Now.
In the meantime, fans of the famous chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, and more can still enjoy their favorite items at the Chick-fil-A on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
