Chester Daniel Price, age 74, went to be with his Lord on June 23, 2023, in Ashland City, Tennessee.
Dan was born September 15, 1948, to Chester Green Price and Retha Hazel Horner (née Mathes) in Clarksville, TN. He was a member of 24church in Pleasant View, TN, and a lifelong follower of Christ. Dan was a man who truly did it all, and a recollection of his adventures and vocations is limited only by the word count of this obituary. He was a proud American and Vietnam veteran, serving on the USS Saratoga as part of his four years of service in the Navy. He was a high school electronics teacher, a factory supervisor, and an inventor. He was an emu farmer, a real estate investor, and a military laser training specialist, and a classic car enthusiast. He was an epic practical joker, a talented ventriloquist and volunteer hospital magician, and a Gomer Pyle impersonator rivaled only by Jim Nabors himself (see America’s Funniest Videos archive). Dan excelled at all of these things (and more), but where he truly shined was as a dedicated son, father, husband, brother, mentor and friend; these roles were his true passion, and he poured himself into others with an energy and authenticity that will be deeply missed.
Dan was predeceased by his father, Chester; mother and stepfather, Retha and Bill Horner; and sister Lynetta “Snookie” Price. He is survived by his wife, Gail Price; sister, Jackie Watts; daughter, Crystal Tedesco of Sarasota, FL; son, John (Jennifer) Price of Charlotte, NC; stepsons Josh (Kathryn) Cartwright and Luke Cartwright; five grandchildren he shared with Billie Price: Brooklyn Tedesco, Matthew Tedesco, Matilda Price, Calvin Price, and Ronan Price; and two grandchildren he shared with Gail Price: Jack Cartwright and Ellie Cartwright.
Visitation for Dan will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, in Clarksville, TN from 4:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home. Funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023, in the Chapel of Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pegram Veterans Cemetery with Sammy Stuard, George Mickle, Steve Springer, Stanley Frazier, Donnie Hunter, Josh Cartwright, Luke Cartwright, and Jerry Adkins (honorary) as Pallbearers.
