CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Cheesy J’s has opened on Madison Street, offering a gourmet grilled cheese menu with the slogan “It’s easy being cheesy.”
Co-owner Jennie Davidson told Clarksville Now the development of Cheesy J’s began after the closing of Island Fin when she and her husband, Jeff Davidson, partnered with Jeff Bryant Jr., Jeff Bryant Sr. and Justin Bryant on a new business venture.
Davidson said the group spent months formulating recipes and refining with the concept. The result is Cheesy J’s, but they wanted the restaurant to be more than just grilled cheese. They decided to add an artistic vibe to the storefront, which is also showcased in their menu.
Davidson said one of the customer favorites so far is the Presto, which comes with grilled chicken, pesto, tomato, parmesan and mozzarella, on European wheatberry bread. The brisket sandwich is another popular item, and it’s on track to be added to the regular menu due to the demand from customers, Davidson said. The brisket sandwich includes cheddar cheese and blackberry jam on sourdough bread.
Cheesy J’s offers sweet potato fries, mac and cheese, potato wedges and tomato soup as sides, then they offer desserts such as soft serve ice cream, their pie of the day and razz pudding.
For decor, Davidson said they wanted to pay tribute to the late Debbie Bryant, who loved the beach.
Cheesy J’s is at 2305 Madison St, and the businesses hours are currently 10:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Sunday, but they are likely to be extended in the coming weeks as the storefront will look to serve breakfast as well. For more, visit the Cheesy J’s Facebook page.
