CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. – A Cheatham County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured Monday night when he lost control of his cruiser, according to WKRN News 2.

The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office posted a picture of the wreck on Facebook, saying the deputy was not seriously hurt.

The post noted Deputy Tyler Haley was driving to a wreck on Highway 12 when his cruiser hydroplaned and left the highway, hit a few trees and ended up in a nearby creek.

Deputy Haley was transported to the hospital in Ashland City, and was later released.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

According to the sheriff’s department, of all law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty each year, more than a third who died were in or near their vehicles at the time.
