A Celebration of Life service for MSG Charles Harold Boatwright, ARMY (Ret), will be Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Sykes Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Payne will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 26, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Charles was born on September 25, 1937, in Berkeley, CA to John and Gertrude Boatwright. He passed away on July 20, 2023. Charles had 23 years of combined service in the Air Force and Army, as well as 3 tours in Vietnam. He was also employed by the United States Post Office for 17 years. When he wasn’t working on his many rental homes, he enjoyed ceramics, woodworking, gardening, and going on cruises with his wife.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his grandchildren, Spenser Mayes and Jared Boatwright. Charles is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Harrison Boatwright; children: Donna (Robert) Deluca, Thomas (Donna) Boatwright, Wendy Eastridge, Patricia (George) Mayes, and Patti Hume; grandchildren: Chad O’Brien, Jason O’Brien, Keriann Delle, Kasey Boatwright, Tara Mata, Troy Eastridge, and Heather Hadley; and 7 great grandchildren.
