CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Chapel Hill Middle School Lions defeated the Lighthouse Lions in the TSIAA middle school championship game, 42-33, on Saturday. Chapel Hill went 11-0 during the year and is in just its fourth season as a program.
“I’m extremely proud of this team. An undefeated season is never inevitable, but it didn’t surprise me that we accomplished it,” said Chapel Hill head coach Paul Krueckeberg.
“The character and work ethic of this group is special. We set the goal of winning this tournament in the first year Chapel Hill could field a team. So our 8th graders have had their eye on the state championship for four years now. Their growth as basketball players has been phenomenal, but I’m prouder of their development into strong, faithful young men.”
The school’s first season fielding a middle school team was the 2022-23 year, and now, they have reached the peak of TSIAA. Next year, they will field a high school team for the first time and compete in TSSAA in the same district as Clarksville Academy. The middle school will remain in TSIAA and defend their title, seeking back-to-back championships.
