CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Chapel Hill Christian Academy is a small private Christian school that opened in 2020. Most schools that are the size of Chapel Hill either offer few sports or none at all. For athletic director Amanda Butler, that doesn’t matter, as she, and the school, are all about giving kids more opportunities at every turn.
Chapel Hill already has several athletic programs and is ramping up to add football in 2025. Currently operating out of Hilldale Baptist Church, they are in a fundraising campaign to open their own campus at Sango Road and Trough Springs Road, with fields for football, baseball, soccer, tennis, and track included.

“I knew in order to open up more opportunities for the school and for the kids, we needed to have athletics,” Butler told Clarksville Now. “It opens up doors for our school to grow, and chances for our kids to compete.”
Chapel Hill girls’ flag football, boys’ and girls’ cross country, and boys’ and girls’ golf will compete under the TSSAA after getting their first high school district assignments for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. All other sports offered will compete under TSIAA. Chapel Hill is one of few schools in the state that will compete under both bodies.
The headliner for Chapel Hill’s 2025 season in athletics is their new football team.
“We’ve had a dream to have Friday night lights here since we opened the school,” Butler said. “We’ve been in the planning stages for a few years now, but now that we have enough athletes to really do this, we’re ready.”

Chapel Hill also plans on offering the following middle school sports: basketball, cheerleading, clay sports, co-ed soccer, cross country, eighth grade girls’ flag football, football, golf, tennis and volleyball.
While Chapel Hill has experienced massive growth in its athletics, they’re not done yet. According to Butler, this is only the beginning of what athletics for the Lions will look like.
“We want as many opportunities at the school as possible. We’ve been looking at adding several sports like tennis, track, field hockey, archery and others,” Butler said. “This whole creation of athletics has purely been a stepping out in faith. I completely give all the glory to God and cannot wait to see where this journey takes us. Go Lions!”
