CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Transportation officials have made changes to an upcoming construction project that will likely cause traffic delays and congestion in the Riverside Drive area starting Friday.
The first movement will still take place on Feb 1, 2018, but the company is now going to bring four 130 ft beams on separate haulers instead of the two originally planned.
The haulers will transport the beams to the McClure bridge construction site on 48/13 on Feb 1, Feb 5, and Feb 6 around 2 p.m. each day.
There may be an interruption or delays to traffic flow. The haulers transporting the beams will be getting off at Exit 11, crossing Madison Street on to the 41A Bypass to Riverside Dr., turning left onto Cumberland Drive (48/13), and crossing into the county to the McClure Bridge area.
Officials expect the intersection of Riverside Drive/Cumberland Drive (48/13) to be closed in all directions for an undetermined amount of time each day as the haulers make the left turn at the intersection. The exact time for this to occur is unknown, but is anticipated between noon and 12:30.
The length of the beams may necessitate stopping or reduced speeds for traffic in some other locations along the route.
Drivers are asked to try to avoid these routes if possible and watch out for traffic delays. More informstion will be provided as it becomes available.
