CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The 101st Combat Aviation Brigade ‘Wings of Destiny’ will be hosting a Change of Command, Change of Responsibility ceremony Friday, Feb. 19 at 1:30 p.m.
The change of command will take place on base at Division Parade Field, Fort Campbell, Ky.
Family, friends and fellow Soldiers will gather for a ceremony to honor Col. Thomas R. Drew and Command Sergeant Major Stuart C. O’Black as they transfer command and responsibility of the Wings of Destiny brigade to Col. Craig J. Alia and Command Sergeant Major Mark W. Lindsey.
Col. Tomas R. Drew and Command Sergeant Major Stuart C. O’Black took command and responsibility of 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in July 2013. During this time, the Wings of Destiny participated in Exercise Golden Eagle, the first brigade-level air assault that the 101st Airborne Division has conducted in more than 10 years. The brigade then prepared for deployment with several rotations to the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, La. and high-altitude, mountain-environment training, HAMET at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M.
In May, the brigade deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and conducted combat aviation operations in Train, Advise, and Assist Commands (TAAC) East and South in support of Ground Force Commanders, Special Operations Forces, Afghan National Security Forces, and Coalition Forces. The brigade returned to Fort Campbell in January 2016.
