Update, 3:15 p.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for northwestern Montgomery County and Stewart County until 4:15 p.m.

Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen, and minor flooding is expected.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Update, 2:15 p.m.: Thunderstorms are now rolling across Clarksville, but no watches or warnings have been issued.

Fort Campbell was under a weather alert through 5 p.m., with moderate thunderstorms on post. High winds of 40 mph to 52 mph were expected, according to a weather alert.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville may get some strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon, with the main threat being gusty winds and heavy rainfall.

The chance of showers or storms is 40 percent, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville.

High temperatures in the mid-90s will combine to bring heat index values around 100 to 105 degrees during the late morning through the afternoon.

“If you have to be outside, drink plenty of fluids, wear lightweight loose-fitting clothing, stay out of the sun if possible, and take frequent breaks,” the NWS statement said.

“Check up on relatives and neighbors, and if you can, reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or evening. Young children or pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.”

Heat index values should decrease in the late afternoon and evening.
