FORT CAMPBELL, KY. (CLARKSVILLENOW) Family, friends and fellow Screaming Eagles welcomed home 220 soldiers early Thursday morning who were returning from a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.

There were two flights carrying troops that landed less than 15 minutes apart at Campbell Army Airfield Thursday morning. The soldiers are with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB), and the 101st Sustainment Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

The soldiers were greeted with a Welcome Home Ceremony by the new commander of the 101st and Fort Campbell, Major General Brian Winski who praised the soldiers for their mission.

Two soldiers with the 101st CAB, Specialist Dustin Sendelbach and his wife Corbin have two young children and were both deployed at the same time to Afghanistan. Dustin talked about being home again. “We’ve got a lot to do we’ve been gone for nine-months and had to send the kids up to northern Kentucky, so it’s time to set our house up again,” Sendelbach said.

Corbin shared her husband’s excitement. “It feels amazing, pretty overwhelming. We had a pretty good team back here taking care of everything and over there as well, just getting everything done. It just feels great,” said Sendelbach.
