CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Centerstone and Unity Physician Partners have partnered to bring residents in and around Montgomery County behavioral and physical healthcare at one location. The companies have opened Unity Medical Clinic at Centerstone’s offices at 511 8th Street.
Unity Medical Clinic is a complete patient-centered medical home. It has a whole-person focus that provides coordinated care for both physical and mental health needs. Having comprehensive, coordinated care within one location is important as studies have shown that behavioral and physical health disorders often overlap. Sixty-eight percent of adults with mental health concerns also have physical conditions, and 29 percent of people with physical illnesses have mental health conditions.
“The partnership between Centerstone and Unity is setting a new standard for integrated care that better serves the mental and physical health needs of residents in Montgomery and surrounding counties,” said Robert N. Vero, EdD, CEO of Centerstone. “Physical and mental health go hand-in-hand, but primary care and behavioral health care providers haven’t always connected as they should. Our partnership with Unity is changing that.”
Led by Dr. Oba Hollie, Unity Medical Clinic offers a range of primary care services to people of all ages including:
• Annual well checks and well woman exams;
• School and sport physicals;
• Preventative health services;
• Treatment of acute illnesses, injuries and infections; and
• Diagnosis of complex medical problems.
These services complement the behavioral health services already offered by Centerstone at the clinic, including individual, group and family counseling, crisis services and psychiatric services for the treatment of health issues such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety, trauma, phobias, substance use, anger management, grief and other life adjustment challenges.
The Unity Medical Clinic is open to the public and accepting new patients. Physical health appointments can be made by calling (931) 245-3580 and mental health appointments can be made by calling (931) 920-7200.
