CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Dunbar Cave State Park will hold its annual Spring Fling event Saturday, May 11 from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

All of the activities for families to enjoy throughout the day are free and are sponsored by the Friends of Dunbar Cave. This is a rain or shine event.

Most presentations are held in the park’s media room, which can fill up quickly so be sure to allow your family plenty of time to get a seat.

Come early to join the Warioto Chapter of the National Audubon Society on a bird hike. Tabletop exhibits will be open from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Sherry Koontz of APSU will conduct a reptile presentation at 9 a.m. and Dr. Jack Sites of APSU will make a presentation on snakes at 12 p.m.

Duane Rice of the Tennessee Bluebird Society will present a presentation at 10 a.m. on Bluebirds. Duane is a local bluebird expert and volunteers his time checking hundreds of local bluebird boxes.

The exciting Wings to Soar event occurs from 11-11:50 a.m. as Save Our American Raptors gives an educational program showing various native birds of prey. You’ll learn about each of the bird’s history, more about its species and how it fits into the natural world.

The Wings to Soar program will be repeated from 1-1:50 p.m. and as in the first presentation, some of the birds are flighted, which will make for some lively audience encounters.
