Cecil Wade Adkins, age 90, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016, at his residence.
Cecil was born September 17, 1926, in Stroudsville, TN, to the late Eli Adkins, Jr. and Judith Marie Miles Adkins. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Shaw Adkins; three brothers, Billy Ray Adkins, Charles Edward Adkins, Sr., and Robert Eli Adkins; and one sister, Mary Ann Cornell.
Mr. Adkins was a US Army Air Corps and Air Force veteran. He also worked in customer service and management with Capitol Airlines and United Airlines. Cecil was a member of Hilldale Church of Christ.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 26, at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Bro. Steve Kirby and Bro. Carl Simms officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, November 26, from 9:30 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home. Committal service will be held Monday, November 28, at 11:00 AM, at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, in Nashville.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Rachel Evans Adkins; his son, Barry Michael (Peggy Mustain) Adkins; his daughter, Bonnie A. (Philip N.) Bryan; his three sisters, Pauline Smith, Martha Sullivan, and Wanda Jeanette; four grandchildren, Michael Andrew (Lisa Jo Clark) Adkins, Merri Amanda Adkins, Ellen M. Bryan, and Molly A. Bryan (Jason Frederick); and five great grandchildren, Addison Jo Adkins, Corder Wade Adkins, Rynn Davis Adkins, Will Andrew Adkins, and Jack Coleman Adkins.
In 2000 Cecil’s marriage to Rachel blessed him with an extended family of four children, David Griffey, Danny Griffey, Deborah DeCanto, and Kathy Akiin and many more family members who loved and cherished him.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to AseraCare Hospice and the caregivers at Cumberland Care, for the excellent care they provided to Cecil, during his final days.
