CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Two Clarksville Department of Electricity leaders recently received awards celebrating their excellence.

Sally Martino, Executive Assistant at CDE Lightband, was awarded the 2019 POWER award for her outstanding involvement in The Women’s International Network of Utility Professionals (WiNUP) and CDE Lightband’s Chief Financial Officer, David Johns, was celebrated at the Nashville Business Journal’s 2019 CFO Awards.

Martino was recognized for her extensive advocacy for the organization.

“Her inspiring attitude, support, and kindness is reflected into the lives she has assisted through her service,” said Brian Taylor, general manager at CDE Lightband.

Martino has been a role model by helping women who have chosen public utilities as a career path. She embraced her chapter’s history, organized events and established new traditions. Her innovativeness helped launch new ways to support the WiNUP mission and objectives.

She has served as chapter vice-chair, chair, chair and co-chair of the International website, charity and fundraising co-chair and historian. She also was a part of the new member development committee and social media committee.

Martino’s devotion to growth for her Nashville and International chapters includes continuing promotion to local companies and to expand to states without international level representation.

Johns was recognized in early October at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum as an honoree in the Nonprofit/Institution category.

Nominees show high successes in their companies, community involvement, business strategies, and innovations.

“David’s hard work and his pioneering leadership have contributed to CDE Lightband’s success,” said Brian Taylor, general manager at CDE Lightband.

Johns’ role within CDE Lightband has been influential as he has helped implement new internal controls within the company.

Over the last eight consecutive years, under Johns’ leadership, the company has seen clean audits. With broadband, he has added multiple performance measures to expand the division. He has played a pivotal role in the success of the expansive growth of CDE Lightband’s broadband.

CDE officials said Johns is a valuable asset and an integral part of the management team. His input is highly valued with all financial decisions. His future endeavors will continue to add to the company’s high-tech achievements.
