Center fielder Garrett Spain and third baseman Malcolm Tipler each had two-run triples, but APSU’s baseball team could not hold off Kentucky in an 8-4 season-opening.
With the 84-75 win the Govs are 12-12 for the season, 7-6 in the OVC.
The Govs fell to their archrival Murray State 73-71 Thursday night at the Dunn Center.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Austin Peay baseball clubhouse will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday prior to the start of that day’s 1 p.m. game against Kentucky.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 Thursday, Feb. 14.
