Starting pitcher Harley Gollert struck out a career-high eight batters but Austin Peay State University’s baseball team could not solve Samford starter Samuel Strickland and fell 6-0, Friday afternoon, in Day 2 of the SAF Dirt Classic on Joe Maynard Field at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay continues its road trip with a three-game series at Jacksonville, Friday-Sunday.

After winning three matches last week, Austin Peay State University men’s tennis will look to make history repeat itself with another trio of matches this week, starting with a 2 p.m., Thursday, match against Martin Methodist at the Governors Tennis Center. After the Govs take on the Redhawks, they will travel to Indianapolis for a 2:30 p.m., Saturday, match with IUPUI; before returning to Clarksville for an 11 a.m., Sunday match against the Flyers of Dayton.

Outfielder Skyler Luna posted three RBI but it wasn’t enough as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team dropped its first road game of the season, 10-5, against Western Kentucky, Tuesday afternoon at Nick Denes Field.

Following the final full weekend Ohio Valley Conference road trip, Austin Peay State University men’s and women’s basketball are set to wrap up the 2019-20 regular season with a Senior Day doubleheader, Thursday, against Morehead State; before traveling to Murray State, Saturday, for the First Financial Bank Battle of the Border and regular-season finale.

Austin Peay closes a season-opening eight-game homestand when it hosts longtime foe Western Kentucky for a 3 p.m., Tuesday contest on Joe Maynard Field at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The Govs conclude play at the classic on Sunday when they play tournament host and #18 nationally ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
