Austin Peay State Univerity’s new head football coach Jeff Coach Faris was welcomed to Clarksville on Monday at F&M Bank Arena.

Following the departure of Scotty Walden, Austin Peay Athletics has named Jeff Faris as the 22nd head coach in the history of the football program. 

National media outlets are reporting that Austin Peay State University head football coach Scotty Walden is leaving the Govs for UTEP.

Austin Peay State University’s football team lost to Chattanooga 24-21 Saturday in the opening round of the NCAA Division I Football Championship at Fortera Stadium.

Beginning last week when the Governors faced the University of Texas at El Paso, it marked the beginning of the 2023, 3rd annual SoCal Challenge and Showcase. 

Graduate student Mike DiLiello became the first Austin Peay State University quarterback to earn recognition as a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, presented by FedEx Ground and Stats Perform. In its 37th season, the Walter Payton Award recognizes the FCS National Offensive Player of the Year.

Fresh off leading Austin Peay State University’s football team to its second conference championship during his tenure, head coach Scotty Walden is a finalist for the 2023 Eddie Robinson Award, presented by FedEx Ground and Stats Perform to the FCS National Coach of the Year.
