FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – Carry The Fallen is a team hiking event lasting 3, 6, 12 or 22 hours that is part of the Active Heroes Challenges program that builds camaraderie, wellness, morale and connects military families with supporters and peer mentors.
Active Heroes is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to support U.S. military service members, veterans, and their families through physical, educational, and emotional programs providing coping skills in an effort to eliminate suicide.
Participants can hike for the entire 139 miles, or walk just a portion. Shuttle vans will leave multiple times a day from both Fort Knox and Fort Campbell to both join and leave the route easily.
The hike begins Thursday, March 31 and end Monday, April 3. Thursday’s start time is projected to be 6 p.m., ending at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Participants are welcome to form teams, or ruck as individuals. The event will begin at Oak Grove War Memorial Walking Trail Park, finishing at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Encourage your friends and family to do the event with you, as it is family friendly.

Participants carry weight to symbolize the emotional weight that many veterans are carrying after war. Twenty-two veterans a day take their own lives and Active Heroes is working towards reducing these numbers.
Active Heroes relies on donations to keep events and activities free. These free events have proven to save lives. The organization assisted 155 veterans in 2014.
