Update, 7:35 a.m. Monday: Larry Dewayne Hardy of Clarksville was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with evading arrest, carjacking, reckless driving and other related charges.

Update, 5:50 p.m.: Clarksville Police Sgt. Fontella Jones said the carjacking happened at about 9 a.m. in the 2600 block of Union Hall Road.

The victim told police she was in the back seat of her car at the dog park in Paddock Place Apartments when a man pulled her out, punched her in the mouth and then drove off in her vehicle.

Officers responded to the area, and the vehicle was spotted near Tiny Town Road and Allen Road. The vehicle was spotted again in Oak Grove, Kentucky, and pursued back into Clarksville, Jones said.

After the crash, the driver, Larry Hardy was taken into custody without incident.

Prior to the crash, the robber broadsided a black Cadillac, according to a witness. Vincent Borom, who was driving the Cadillac, told Clarksville Now that he saw the sedan coming and ducked toward his passenger seat.

Borom said the driver went into the intersection at about 70 mph and was trying to turn right onto Trenton when he crashed into the truck.

Previously, 11:30 a.m.:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A carjacking led to a police pursuit that ended in a wreck at Tiny Town and Trenton Roads in Clarksville Sunday morning.

Prior to 10 a.m., a man carjacked a vehicle at apartments on Union Hall Road, off of Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, according to Clarksville Police Sgt. Fontella Jones.

The robber fled to Oak Grove, where he was spotted by authorities there and turned back to Clarksville, Jones said.

Witnesses reported on the Clarksville-Montgomery County CrimeWatch Facebook page seeing a Christian County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Office vehicle chasing the man, who was driving a white sedan.

At about 10 a.m., the sedan crashed with a truck at Tiny Town and Trenton, injuring the people in the truck, Jones said. They were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The man driving the sedan was taken into custody, Jones said.

The scene was clear as of noon.
