GUTHRIE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Kentucky man was killed in a crash after a vehicle struck the farm tractor he was driving.

According to Kentucky State Police (KSP), 69-year-old Aden Coblentz of Guthrie was driving a Ford Farm Tractor southbound on Old Railroad Lane Oct. 9 around 6:50 p.m. when a 2006 Buick Rendezvous traveling northbound hit the tractor’s outer dual tire while passing it.

The tractor went off the shoulder of the road and into a ditch when Coblentz was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the other driver as 37-year-old Maurice Smith of Allensville, Kentucky.

The investigation is ongoing and police have not indicated whether Smith will be charged.

“KSP would like to warn motorists to be aware it is harvesting season, and farmers are going to be on the roadway,” officials said in a release. “Motorists need to be aware of their surroundings and know there is a high likelihood they may encounter farm equipment during their travels.”
