CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A group of workers witnessed a vehicle roll into the Cumberland River Tuesday morning.

A maintenance worker told ClarksvilleNow.com he watched the red Volkswagen roll from a parking lot, cross Riverside Dr., and hit a lamp post on the Riverwalk before rolling over the embankment and into the water where it eventually sank.

No one was in the vehicle at the time, according to witnesses.

The workers informed authorities. The car has not yet been recovered from the river.

It appears no one was injured.

The cause of the incident has not been confirmed.
